The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program helps participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. Teaches skills participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.

This course has been updated with the 2015 International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) Consensus on Science and Treatment Recommendations for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Guidelines.

Course Overview:

CISM training is presented by Susan Martin and Katherine Ellis of the Austin Disaster Relief Network Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). CISM Training helps people in and out of disaster but particularly when we respond to survivors impacted by trauma. This training equips volunteers to deal with the mental, emotional and spiritual needs of survivors impacted by disaster. This training covers topics about various levels of trauma, crisis intervention techniques, and much more that prepares volunteers with skills and confidence to respond when needed. All participants will receive a certificate of completion after completing 14 hours of course time.

This training is encouraged for mature teens 16 years of age and older, and for all adults. CISM is an internationally recognized training. Training cost is $50. (Scholarship pricing available for $25 with approved application). All former students are encouraged to attend this modified course FREE OF CHARGE.

Emergency Medical Response Training

Course Overview:

Emergency Medical Response is a comprehensive training that gives professional rescuers the knowledge and skills necessary to work as an emergency medical responder. This is a 64-hour intense hands-on training course that provides a 2-year certification from the American Red Cross in Emergency Medical Response, Oxygen Administration, CPR for the Professional Responder and a 1-year certification in Bloodborne Pathogens. This class meets the requirements of CERT Training Level 3 in many areas. Students will need to prepare outside the classroom for upcoming sessions. Class consists of 8 Saturday classes and requires demonstration level of competency and retention of the skills learned as well as obtaining a minimum score of 80% on a written exam.
